Secrets of the Boys Club

By Matthew Titus Here’s more insider information to help you understand what some guys really mean by their MAN-nerisms, comments and responses: Identity - Maintain it! You were an individual without him; so make sure you are an individual with him. There is nothing more attractive on this earth than a woman who makes sure the man knows she would be just fine without him. Women who require time for themselves or “alone time” come across as secure, independent, and just a little bit mysterious. Simply put: its a turn on! Confidence - There is no other way to be! You must maintain confidence in the way you look, in his feelings toward you, and in all of your actions. A woman, who knows she looks great, no matter the circumstance is truly sexy. Look your best always. Do not talk about it, complain about it, or dwell on it. Do Not Call Boys - Guess what, your mama was right, good girls dont call boys. In the beginning, you must make him believe that he is an afterthought. This means that while you are getting to know him, you cannot ignore the rest of your life. Simply put, you will get back to him when you have a chance. Men Love with Their Eyes Initially, a man is driven by whatever he finds visually appealing. Men are not approaching you because you look intelligent, kind or secure. Remember, if he likes what he sees, hes going to go after it. Men Do Not Want Female Friends - If they do want to “be friends” they have already, probably attempted to be intimately involved with you. Most likely they failed at the attempt, so the friendship thing is a way to expedite their exit from your life. But, that is not the only reason. If a guy first approaches you to be his friend, he is most likely not sexually attracted to you, and that is not likely to change. Men Do Not Know What They Want - Most of their actions are driven on impulse, so if we get what we want too soon, we lose interest. If we dont get what we want immediately, it becomes a challenge. The rule is to make a man wait! If you give yourself to him on the first date, hell be gone by the second. The Male Species is the Most Easily Intimidated Species on the Planet - Your successes, female strength, and intellect can be liabilities with the wrong guy because he will be scared of you. Successful women often have a hard time finding a man, because not all of them can deal with a brilliant, driven woman. You must find a man who embraces who you are and what you do, if you dont, you will be compromising forever. Men Do not Initially Respond Well to Complete Availability - Make yourself unavailable, even if you have the whole weekend free! Never say “YES!” the first time he asks you for a date unless he asks you five days in advance. Let him understand that you have a life, and you are fitting him in. Just trust me on this one! Are You Ready For Low Carb?

By Philip Nicosia Everyones been talking about low carb diets. While most people tend to associate it with South Beach or Atkins, there are actually quite a few books that center on the principle of cutting out the carbs: Sugar Busters, Protein Power, The Zone Diet, Carbohydrates Addict Diet. They differ on how strict they are about carbohydrate intakewhat you can eat, and not eat, or how much you are later allowed to eat in the later phases of the dietbut as a whole, they agree on one thing: carbs are bad. The Carbohydrate Principle Which makes you wonder: whats so bad about carbs? The belief is that when you control carbohydrates, you lower your bodys production of insulin. Insulin gives your body the quick fix of energy (which is why, after eating carbs, you get the famous sugar rush). But without carbs, your bodys forced to use your bodys fat and protein stores. Low carb diets can lead to rapid weight loss, but nutritionists are debating whether or not it should be continued in a long term. This is because you force your body to burn muscle, and muscle can be a dieters best friend because it burns calories even when youre at rest. However, some diets allow restricted carbs in later phaseswhich would lower the rate of your weight loss, but is healthier for you in the long run. What are the benefits of low carb diets? * You feel (and weigh!) lighter. Low carb diets remove many high-calorie, low-nutrition foods such as pastries and pasta. It also forces the body to burn fat stores (i.e., the bulge around your hips). The foods that are typically included, mainly protein, low-fat dairy, and fiber, also tend to reduce water retention. * You feel less hungry and more energetic. The body digests carbs and uses very quickly, leading to quick bursts of energy but also frequent hunger pangs and the infamous sugar rush-sugar crash cycle When you replace carbs with fiber and protein, which takes longer to process, youll feel full longer and have more stable energy levels. That is also linked to less mood swings and higher concentration. * Better blood pressure and cholesterol. Low carb diets usually remove saturated fats, and refined or processed food, and shift to what is called whole food groups (low fat dairy, protein, fiber) which help control blood pressure and cholesterol. The significant reduction of sugary foodwhich typically contain lots of calories, no nutritional contentalso helps control obesity, which is a big factor in heart attacks. What foods are low carb? Low carb diets sound good, but be prepared: low carb diets will take out what many consider as staples in all meals: bread, pasta, and rice. In fact, low carb diets will remove anything made of flour, starchy vegetables like corn and potatoes, and foods that contain sugar (this includes several fruits), and cereals that arent specifically labeled as low carb. However, you will be allowed to take meat and eggs, low sugar fruits like strawberries, and high-protein but low-fat alternatives like soybeans. Some low carb diets allow dairy. Wedding Invitation: How to Save Money on the Invitation of Your Choice

By Eriani Doyel The wedding invitation that you choose will make a reflection on the people that you send it to. It will say something about the way that you feel about this special event and how you feel about them. But, with all of the other expenses for a wedding, you may be concerned about the cost of getting a nice wedding invitation. If this is the case, there are options available to you so that you can get a great price on a wedding invitation that reflects your personal taste and style. You can design and print your own invitations or you can go to a discount printer or stationery business. Although etiquette dictates that a wedding invitation contains certain features and information, the bride and groom are free to express themselves in the color, design and even wording. This is what makes designing your own wedding invitation so appealing. You can choose to work with a local print shop or stationery store, or you can find a site on the internet which will allow you to pick and choose every thing from the type of paper to the color of the ink. Make sure that you are able to examine the paper and see samples of the printing before you choose any printer. If you have access to a high quality printer, you may be able to print your own wedding invitation, but the cost of having the discount printer do it may be worth the reduced hassle. Online you can also find many businesses offering discounted invitations, and virtually all of them will send you free samples so that you can get a look at their work before you make a purchase. The weight of the paper and the quality of the printing are the key things to look for as well as the number of selections available for customization. Make sure that you begin your selection process as early as possible so that you can have time to think about the wording as well as the design and allow room for errors to be corrected if that is necessary. History of Fountain Pens

By Eddie Tobey The history of fountain pens is very fascinating and can be traced back to the 18th century. Even though, Lewis Waterman was the first man to patent the very first practical fountain pen in 1884, writing instruments designed to carry their own supply of ink had existed for over a 100 years. The oldest known fountain pen which has survived to this date was designed by a Frenchmen named M. Bion around 1702. Peregrin Williamson was the first American to receive the patent for fountain pens in 1809. It was John Jacob Parker who patented the first self-filling fountain pen in 1831. The main problem with the early fountain pen models was that they were plagued by ink spills and other such failures that impaired their sales. Fountain pens were designed a 1000 years after the usage of quill pens. Its mechanism was composed of 3 parts- the nib, the feed or black part under the nib which controlled the flow of ink and the round barrel which was to hold the nib and feed together. It was Lewis Waterman’s idea to add an air hole in the nib and three grooves inside the feed mechanism, to avoid ink spillage. All pens have an internal reservoir for ink and even the mechanism to fill the ink also underwent a transformation along with the evolving fountain pen. Initially, eyedroppers were used for filling ink into the pens. By 1915, most pens had a self-filling soft and flexible rubber sac as an ink reservoir. To refill these pens, the reservoirs were squeezed flat by an internal plate and the pen’s nib was inserted into a bottle of ink. When the pressure on the internal plate was released, the ink sac would fill up drawing in a fresh supply of ink. Eventually, several different patents were issued for the self-filling fountain pen design. Fountain Pens provides detailed information on Fountain Pens, Fountain Pen Cases, Fountain Pen Refills, Fountain Pen History and more. Fountain Pens is affiliated with Fountain Pens. Business Cards That Boost Your Sales

By Natalie Aranda A business card is a great way to introduce your company name to a potential client and then in turn they will always have your name and number handy. This brings your company into your clients world as a household name for your customers for their future needs or as a word of mouth company to pass on to their friends and family. Business cards that boost your sales need to be given out to every person you come in contact with or anyone who becomes interested in your company and the service that you provide. A business card should also have an eye-catching design and it should be memorable to help your business profit more. Let us say that you are in the real estate business. A business card is extremely necessary in that line of work. Your name will be remembered when your customer is given your card and then they will have it to keep around and refer to when necessary. There are several templates available online that will give your business card the look that you desire. Real estate business cards can convey the message that you are an independent realtor or it can show what area that you work with. Rather this is a design for apartments or houses or a specific city like New York Cit or Los Angeles with beautiful layouts, those designs will definitely enhance the look and feel of your business card. Your company will benefit in sales from a real estate business card that shows the areas of real estate you work in and the design should catch a potential clients eye and keep them intrigued while they are holding onto your card. Consider adding clip art to your business card if you want a simple, yet effective design for your real estate business. There are magnetic business cards that give your customers the assurance that they can place your card on the refrigerator and forget about it. Then the next day and a couple of weeks later your business card will still be around when the needs of your services are required. Your business card is not just another paper card. It has a feature that is almost guaranteed to get you business and boost your sales. Magnetic business cards are easily accessible and are a lot harder to lose, once you stick them and forget them. The refrigerator is not the only surface that your magnetic business card will stick too. File cabinets, lockers, and even cars can become places of advertisement for your business and its services. Natalie Aranda writes about small busines and Internet marketing. She has great experience with using business cards to promote websites and business. A color business card works even better. Things to Talk About With Your Girlfriend

By Ken Marlborough Talking is one of the best ways of getting to know more about someone, and talking to your girlfriend is the best way to forge tight bonds with her. It is very possible that years down the line, the two of you will remember many of the things you will say to each other in these younger days. These fond memories play an integral part in most long-running relationships. One of the best ways of having a good, healthy and wholesome chat with your girlfriend is to start with small talk. The small talk will give you a general picture about her likes and dislikes, as well as what she would like to discuss and what she would rather leave alone. Once the small talk gives you a general idea, you can go ahead and discuss your common likes and dislikes. A wholesome chat can also end up in a decision to do something you can enjoy together. For example, a chat about the latest movie or play can actually end up in the two of you standing in queue to buy tickets for it. As you begin to form opinions of your girlfriend during the course of conversation, she in turn does the same. Therefore, you should think carefully before speaking and taking up subjects that might be repugnant to her. Religion and politics, for example, are subjects which often don’t gel well with breakfast, lunch or dinner. Unless and until you are open and ready for an active debate, those topics shouldn’t be touched with a barge pole. Talking about it, however, gives you an indication of your girlfriend’s political and religions leanings. A chat is one of the best ways to express your love to your girlfriend. But you should never utter the words “I love you” unless you mean it. This is because false love is very easily found out by women. In addition, most girlfriends enjoy hearing it, but dont make yours hear it all the time or she may begin to find the otherwise-well-meaning utterance tiresome. Business Wine Gifts

By Kent Pinkerton Many of the large corporate companies have started the practice of giving wine bottles as well as different kinds of wine accessories as gifts not only to their clients, but also to their employees. These gifts can be given on various occasions such as employee recognition, success in a particular field, birthdays or holidays. These wine related gifts are also sometimes used for promotional purposes. The gifts may include wine bottles, wine baskets and different kinds of wine accessories ranging from the smaller items such as corkscrews, wine stoppers to large items such as wine totes and wine glasses. What gifts are preferred by the companies is generally dictated by what the occasion demands as well as the specific budget, but generally companies opt for smaller and compact items such as wine stoppers for gifting. For important occasions or for high profile delegates, the most popular gift is generally a pair of beautifully wrapped wine bottle. For holiday season, wine gift baskets are quite an ideal gift for a company’s associates, clients and employees. These customized wine gift baskets include wine bottles and wine accessories such as wine glasses, corkscrews and wine stoppers. Some wine baskets also include items such as caviar, cheese and chocolates. When ordering gifts in large numbers, customers more often than not opt to have their company’s name and logo printed on the gift item or the wine bottle’s label. They even specify the kind of wrapping and packaging to be done for the gifts. This helps the company a great deal in promoting its services. Also, many of the wine and accessory shops dealing with corporate companies provide facilities to deliver the gifts. So, all you need to do is simply order online from the comfort of your home. Pay Day Loans Loan Sharking Reinvented

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Maillie]David Maillie We see advertisements for quick cash loans every day. These loans can be pay day loans, cash advance loans, check advance loans, post-dated check loans or deferred deposit check loans. Typically the borrower rights out a check for the amount of the loan plus a fee. This fee can range from 10% to 40% of the loan and the borrower usually has two weeks to pay it off in full. Most cant pay it off in time and end up owing, in some cases, more in fees than the amount of the original loan. Some states like South Carolina have placed limits on the fee amount allowed. South Carolina law limits this fee to 15% of the amount borrowed. If you were to look at this in a yearly APR it would be 390% interest. Most states have usury laws which limit a yearly rate to 30% or under. Currently Pay Day stores slip by by stating that loans are paid off in 2 weeks so no violation has occurred and that they are providing a much needed service to people that have no where else to go. The actuality is that most of these borrowers cannot repay on time and so they are forced to pay the interest and take out another loan to cover the principle. Currently the average borrower in South Carolina takes 10-15 loans to payoff. These statistics are similar in other states. Which means the borrower will pay $400 - $500 in loan fees on a $400 loan. This is usury and should be illegal as it is not helping anyone. It is predatory lending that just gets borrowers in deeper debt than before. Some will say, that little man has to have somewhere to go, said state Rep. Eldridge Emory, Butif he gets money this way, hes just digging a hole deeper and deeper, and hes not going to get out. Several states like North Carolina have currently banned this form of predatory lending. Others are beginning to consider legislation to further control and possibly curb pay day loans. Still more needs to be done. David Maillie is an alumni of Cornell University and specializes in biochemical synthesis for public, private, and governmental interests. Dating Success: How to Meet Someone Every Time You Go Out

By Tonja Weimer Have you become discouraged because you are single, would like to date, but no one ever asks you out? Would you like to meet someone everytime you go somewhere? If you are single, you can develop a technique that can vastly improve your chances of successful dating. Having dates, or even finding the love of your life, requires more than just showing up somewhere. Unless you look like a movie star or a super model, you can’t just stand around and wait to be “found.” Consider what I call the “Singles S.P.A.C.E.” Whenever you go anywhere, remember the following: S is for Scan. Wherever you are, scan the room or the crowd or the group of people. Look to see if there is anyone interesting to you. Observe if the person of interest is wearing a ring or if they are with someone. If they appear unattached, continue to the next stage, which is, P. P is for Position yourself. Get near enough to the person who looks interesting to be able to talk to them. If you have caught their attention, smile at them. A smile is the number one universal signal to another person that you are friendly, approachable, and interested in them. (Since a smile is so important, talk to your dentist about what you can do to have the best teeth/smile possible.) Once you are near the person, and they still look interesting, proceed to the next stage, which is, A. A is for Ask a question. Ask the person of interest if they have ever been there before, or if they are from that city, or how they like the ___(concert, room, play, noise, food, exhibit, etc.) Pay attention to their response. If they are remote, or obnoxious, or weird to you in any way, move on. Don’t waste time focussed on what was not okay with them. Get busy looking for someone else. However, if they are friendly, and you still have some degree of interest, continue to the next step, which is, C. C is for Compliment. A compliment has the power to immediately draw someone to you. Being noticed and affirmed is a heady experience. Don’t be effusive, but find something that you genuinely like about the person and remark about it. Example: “I like the jacket you are wearing. You look very nice in it.” Or, “You have very pretty eyes.” C can also stand for “Communicate,” which is basically to listen carefully and then respond to what someone is saying. If your exchange has gone well so far and you have determined that this person is available, you may want to move into, E. E is for Exchanging contact information. Depending on how much you know about this person, you may want to use some caution about the contact information you give out. An unlisted cell phone number or an untraceable email address is usually safe, if the person is a complete stranger. But don’t be afraid to say, “I enjoyed talking with you. Would you like to meet for coffee sometime and continue this conversation?” Use your single S.P.A.C.E. everytime you go out. If there aren’t any singles in the group except for you, or if there is no one there of interest, then practice the technique on other strangers (people of the same sex as you, or a much older person) so you feel comfortable using it the next time you want to meet someone. The more you practice this technique, the more confidence you will have. Friendly people are very attractive! It’s important to take responsibility for who you want to meet and not leave it to chance. There may be many eligible people at an event, or very few, but either way, you must make the choice of who to approach so that you get who and what you want in life. Unresolved? Set Powerful Goals Instead

By Michelle May, M.D. If you’re like most people, your New Year’s resolutions are now just a dim memory of good intentions shared over a glass of champagne. Dont give up or feel guilty. There’s still time for a fresh start. First, forget resolutions and think goal setting instead Start by taking a bird’s eye view of your life. What’s working? What’s not? Your challenges offer your greatest opportunity for growth. The next step for setting powerful goals is to recognize what’s most important to you. For example, if spending time with your family and advancing your career are high priorities, then your goal to lose fifteen pounds must be aligned with those priorities. So if losing weight means healthier meals with your family and increased productivity and confidence at work, youre more likely to stay on track and motivated. Picture yourself achieving your goals Now, close your eyes and picture what it will be like as you make changes. How will you feel when you eventually achieve your goal? What will your life be like? Picture yourself taking the necessary steps and successfully building new habits into your lifestyle. With this clear vision in mind, write down your goals using positive, inspiring words. For example, instead of writing “I will stop eating junk food,” write “I will eat more healthfully so I’ll feel better and live longer.” Create a three-part action plan Now take your written goals and break them into at least three small, specific, action steps. Be sure you write down each step and when you plan to accomplish it. Instead of “I will lose fifteen pounds,” you could write, “I will eat five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, starting today. I will walk for ten minutes during my breaks at work twice a day by next month. I will write down at least five enjoyable activities that I can use to distract myself instead of overeating by next week.” At this point, review your steps to make sure that they are realistic. For example, people give up on their weight loss efforts because they try to restrict their diet too much. This leads to feelings of deprivation and rebound overeating and guilt. Learn from your past mistakes and follow an eating plan that includes your favorite foods and allows you to eat when you’re hungry. Once you’re satisfied with your action plan, put your written goals where youll see them often. You might set them on your bedside table, write them on your mirror in felt tip pen (as long as it isn’t a permanent marker) or tape them to your computer monitor. Your written action steps give your brain a map to follow. Decide if you’ll need new tools or support to achieve your goals Maybe there’s a book that would help or a support group you could join. Perhaps you could ask a friend to be your “accountability partner” and make arrangements to check in with each other on a weekly basis. Anticipate possible set-backs and create a plan for overcoming likely obstacles When you make mistakes, treat yourself the way you would your best friend. Be nonjudgmental and encouraging rather than harsh and shaming. Dont expect yourself to be perfect; it’s not possible or necessary. Assess your progress regularly If you’ve reached your goal, repeat the process to take yourself to the next level. If you haven’t, reassess your goal and plan. Was it realistic and aligned with your priorities? Did you outline small, specific steps? How did you handle the unavoidable challenges? What did you learn and what will you do differently this time? Last, but most importantly, enjoy the process Improving your life is exciting, but living your life is even better. Celebrate all of the small steps along the way. Make your goals happily achieved, not achieved to by happy. Michelle May, M.D. is a recovered yoyo dieter and the award-winning author of Am I Hungry? What To Do When Diets Dont Work.
